Al-Quds Bard College of Arts and Sciences at Al-Quds University organized an orientation day for new students, aimed at introducing them to the College, its academic programs and services, and helping them transition into university life and become familiar with the academic and social environment in which they will continue their educational journey.

On September 7, 2026, at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, AQB students and educators came together for “Can Education Survive Attack?”, a dialogue held in recognition of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack. The session brought together Dr. Ibrahim Marazka, Mr. Ahmad Jaffal, and Mr. Osama Risheq, who shared their perspectives on the challenges facing education during humanitarian crises and the importance of safeguarding the right to learn.

تعلن كلية القدس بارد للآداب والعلوم – جامعة القدس (AQB) وجمعية المرأة العاملة الفلسطينية للتنمية عن إطلاق المدرسة النسوية-الفوج الثاني، ضمن مشروع “تعزيز قدرات منظمات المجتمع المدني الفلسطيني في مجالات المشاركة الديمقراطية، الحوار الشامل، والتماسك المجتمعي“ الممول من الاتحاد الأوروبي من خلال الوكالة الفرنسية للخبرة الفنية الدولية-Expertise France. يهدف المشروع الى تعزيز قدرات منظمات المجتمع المدني الفلسطيني في مجالات المشاركة الديمقراطية، الحوار الشامل، والتماسك المجتمعي، وذلك من خلال توسيع الفضاء المدني وتعزيز مشاركة المرأة والشباب في الحياة العامة، وبناء مبادرات مجتمعية تقودها المجتمعات ذاتها لتحقيق التماسك الاجتماعي.

تفخر كلية القدس-بارد  للآداب والعلوم- جامعة القدس-  بإنجازات خريجيها، الذين تواصل مسيرتهم الأكاديمية والمهنية إلهام مساهمات مؤثرة في مختلف المجالات. نسلّط الضوء اليوم على الخريجة هبة أبو شمعة، خريجة برنامج القانون الدولي وحقوق الإنسان، والتي قادتها رحلتها الأكاديمية والمهنية إلى العمل في طليعة المجال الإنساني.

تعمل هبة حالياً كـ مسؤولة حالات ضمن فريق البحث في وحدة التتبع التابعة لقسم الحماية في اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر (ICRC)، من خلال الوكالة المركزية للبحث عن المفقودين (CTA). وفي هذا الدور، تسهم في البحث عن المفقودين في غزة والعمل على إعادة التواصل بينهم وبين عائلاتهم، دعماً للأسر المتأثرة وتوفير محتوى توثيقي حقوقي فيما يخص تلك الحالات.
أجرينا هذا الحوار مع هبة للحديث عن تجربتها في كلية القدس بارد، ومسيرتها الأكاديمية، وأثر تعليمها على حياتها المهنية.

At Al-Quds Bard College (AQB), we take pride in the accomplishments of our graduates, whose academic journeys continue to inspire meaningful contributions across diverse fields. Today, we are delighted to spotlight Heba Abu Shama'a, a graduate of the International Law and Human Rights program, whose academic and professional path has led her to the forefront of humanitarian work.

Heba currently serves as a caseworker at Central Tracing Agency’s (CTA ) with the Gaza Search Team in the Protection Department's Tracing Unit at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). In this role, she works to help locate and reconnect with missing victims in Gaza, supporting families affected by conflict and uncertainty.

We spoke with Heba about her experience at AQB, her academic journey, and the impact of her education on her career.
