STEP is a new bachelor’s program at Al-Quds Bard College that empowers students to understand the political and economic forces that shape the world and provides them with skills that can be harnessed to solve pressing social and economic problems in Palestine and beyond. STEP is built on an interdisciplinary approach - bringing together the academic disciplines of economics, political science, and social theory - because a complex world, where problems have many causes, requires insights from more than one perspective.
During this session, you will have the chance to meet Dr. Sobhi Samour, the head of the STEP program, and hear more about this program in detail. There will be a chance to ask questions to Dr. Samour toward the end of the session.

Description:
The idea for this newly established program on “Global Studies and Diplomacy” is to contain a focused curriculum that combines theory with practice. It is designed to meet a need detected by experts and practitioners in Palestine and beyond. There is a need for a Palestinian diplomatic cadre that has the qualifications in terms of knowledge, and skills to engage and advocate for the cause of Palestine in global conversations with multilateral or regional bodies. Understanding global political and economic settings will enable graduates of this program to practice formal and informal forms of diplomacy with excellence at an era where the roles of public, cultural and digital diplomacy are gaining significant influence.
