in its fourteenth year of operation, Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences (AQB) is an innovative program offering a liberal arts undergraduate education and Master of Arts in Teaching program in Palestine, with an enrollment of about 300 students in 2023-24. AQB’s undergraduate program is rigorous, culminating in a two-semester independent senior project, which, in the sciences, is generally a demanding original research project. Graduates of AQB receive dual degrees: a BA or a MAT from Al-Quds University and from Bard College (New York).

Al-Quds Bard College seeks a full-time faculty member in its Natural sciences division, with principal responsibilities within its program in molecular genetics. The Molecular Genetics program at AQB is a rewarding and challenging program of study. The Molecular Genetics is a multidisciplinary program in the Natural Science Division at Al Quads Bard (AQB). It will prepare students to have a comprehensive knowledge base and flexible training in molecular genetics. This program will be a unique undergraduate program since it is not offered at any of the universities or institutions in Palestine at undergraduate level.

The primary responsibility will be to teach Molecular biology and Genetics courses at intermediate and advanced levels in the molecular genetics and biology programs at AQB college. The successful candidate will have strong teaching and research experiences in molecular biology and genetics areas of study, mentor undergraduate students in conducting their research senior projects and participate in course, curriculum and program development.

Full-time faculty teach three courses per semester, supervise a minimum of two senior projects, and are assigned a group of advisees to whom they provide academic guidance throughout the year. Faculty are expected to engage in community service to contribute to the development of AQB. This includes, but is not limited to, participation in academic committees, admissions interviews, moderation and senior projects boards, faculty development workshops, faculty meetings, and additional administrative tasks, as needed. AQB faculty are also engaged regularly in activities of the Open Society University Network, a global enterprise that provides opportunities for collaborative teaching, research, and professional development through in-person and virtual exchange.

Excellence in and commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level is of primary importance.  We seek faculty whose teaching methods are student-centered, involving students in active discussion and group tasks to develop their reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills in English. Candidates should be truly interdisciplinary—we seek someone who will creatively and intellectually challenge the standard methods of academic inquiry, and who can integrate both theoretical and practical approaches to learning.
