Instructors to teach the summer course 'Language and Thinking' in August/September 2024, at Al-Quds Bard College
Marking its sixteenth year of operation, Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences (AQB) is an innovative program introducing a liberal arts undergraduate education to the West Bank, with an enrollment of approximately 310 undergraduate and graduate students in 2023-2024. The undergraduate program at AQB is rigorous, culminating in a two-semester independent senior project, which is generally a demanding research paper of 45 pages or more.
The Core Division at Al-Quds Bard College (Jerusalem) seeks to hire instructors to teach the summer course 'Language and Thinking' in August/September 2024.
Language and Thinking (L&T) is an intensive two-week course where first-year students get to immerse themselves in an introduction to liberal arts and sciences through writing-focused activities. The students learn how to read, write and think as a writer and a scholar. They get to experience student-centered learning through dynamic discussions, group work, and other activities where they learn to listen and read actively and thoughtfully. The instructors are supported with one week long intensive training workshop to prepare their scripts and share their teaching methods.
Instructors are expected to be fully committed both to the training workshop as well as the two weeks of teaching L&T.
- The training workshop will take place on August 10–14, 9:00-14:30.
- The L&T course will take place on August 24–September 5, 9:00-14:30.
Please note that the course and the training workshop are taught in English.
Qualifications to apply:
- Master’s degree (in any field)
- Proficiency in English language
- Preferably has experience with critical pedagogy
