Maher Abuzir

Maher worked as a teacher at the Palestinian Ministry of Education for 31 years, where he devoted 90% of his practices during the last 10 years to teach his students how to activate their higher-order- thinking skills in learning. Maher taught the Language and Thinking (L&T) course in AQU several times.  His recent activities included training teachers to implement the backward design and to use rewards for applying classroom researches through formative assessment tools. He also worked on the Intel Initiative Reward, in 2015, and on Implementing Backward Design in Teaching Science for 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade" in Dar-Salah School in 2018. Abuzir is experienced in the online formative assessment (FA) via the Zoom platform. Abuzir is a lead biology lab experimenter who aspires for designing lab experiments that cope with the 21st scientific researches. For example, he worked on a project named " Fecal Occult Blood Screening in Beit Sahour" in 2015. Abuzir is a frequent innovator who strongly believes in authentic learning that provokes developing students' mindsets toward active-beneficial learning.  he lives in Bethlehem, Palestine, and is interested in classical music, and is trying to learn foreign languages. His education and credentials include earninga master's degree from the AQB MAT program in the biology track in 2016 and a B.S.C. inBiology major-Chemistry minor, from Bethlehem University in 1987. He also earned a diploma in teaching methods in the track of Mathematics fromBethlehem University in 1994.

Shaima AbdAlkareem Ali

Shaima Abd Alkareem Ali got her Bachelor's Degree from The University of Jordan, where she studied English Language Teaching Methods (English- teacher).Upon her graduation in 2004, she directly started her profession as an English teacher to the 9th - 12th grades, at Deir Qaddis Secondary Girl’s School in Ramallah. After ten years of teaching, she felt that she should develop her body of knowledge and advance her career in education, she got a Master’s Degree in Arts of Teaching at Al-Quds University - Bard College in 2016. Her master’s granted her extensive knowledge of modern methods and theories, and practices of new various teaching techniques. Moreover, one of the most important achievements that Shaima had after obtaining a master's degree is that the student has become the center of the teaching-learning process and being the leader in the educational process, also. Furthermore, she has been a member of the ENTEC program “Enhanced Network Teacher Education Capacity” at Al-Quds Bard College, for a year now. She took part in a workshop in Jericho on the PISA test.Recently, Shaima was hired as a part-time instructor at Al-Quds University. 

Fatima Mafarjeh

Fatima is currently the SAT/AP director at the Arabian Academy for Modern Education, an American school in Ramallah. Her current responsibilities include building curriculum plans for the SAT/AP section, supervising and training teachers, networking with other relevant academic institutions including international ones, and recruiting and qualifying staff members. Her role also extends to include doing academic, social, and behavioral consultation and counseling for the students. 

Before working with the Arabian Academy, Fatima was deeply engaged in English teaching, for both native and non-native speakers of English. She has spent 8 years full of passion as an English teacher at the school level and 5 years as a college instructor. Most of her students would describe her as " an influential teacher and a teacher at heart". They always appreciate her efficient ability to engage her students' metacognitive skills in whatever topic she teaches, thus making them aware of how they learn and how they should think about their learning.  

A flashback on Fatima's academic history would reveal a person who is hardworking, perseverant, and outstanding, being the valedictorian of her class at school, B.A., and M.A. Although she has finished her high school from a less-privileged school in her village, she could secure the nationally third-highest average in Tawjihi (high school diploma). Winning a full scholarship, she had the honor to study her Bachelor's of English language and literature at the University of Jordan where she achieved academic distinction. She finally has anchored her academic success with a Master's of MAT at Al-Quds Bard College. Having sensed her academic passion, she would aim at a Ph.D. degree.

Rita Doqmaq

I teach science education as a part-time instructor in the department of education at Bethlehem University. In addition to my work as a mentor in the ENTEC program at AQB, and Language and thinking Instructor at AQ University, I work as a supervisor and an educational trainer for many projects. I graduated from Bethlehem University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Chemistry and with a high diploma in education. I taught science, biology, and chemistry for 22 years in high schools. After being a science teacher for many years at high schools, I decided to continue my graduate studies. I graduated from the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program (major: Biology) at AQB in 2012. After that, I worked as a researcher, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) coordinator in the MAT program. Also, I worked as teacher assistance (TA) in the program for many courses.

Khaleda Abdel-HadiKhaseeb

Khaleda Abdel-Hadi Khaseeb received her BA from Al-Quds University, where she studied Science Teaching Methods. After graduating in 2006, she began her career as an eighth through a 12th-grade teacher at Arora Secondary School for Boys in Ramallah. After ten years of teaching, she felt the need to develop her knowledge structure and advance her career in the field of education, and she obtained her Master of Arts in Teaching from Al Quds University - Bard College in 2016. The Master's gave her extensive knowledge of modern methods, theories, and practices of various new teaching techniques. Moreover, one of Khaleda's most important achievements after obtaining her master's degree is that the student has become the center of the teaching and learning process and a leader in the educational process as well. Furthermore, in September 2020, she was appointed Principal of Atara Girls High School and remains a member of the ENTEC Program “Enhancing the Capacity of Network Teacher Education” at Bard College Jerusalem, for a year now. I participated in a workshop in Jericho about the PISA test and participated in several training workshops for science teachers on higher-order thinking skills, and participated in workshops to review and write the Palestinian curricula at the Ministry of Education. Khaleda was recently appointed as a part-time teacher at Al-Quds University.

Hazem Alarouri

Hazem holds a BA in Chemistry from Birzeit University in 2004. He joined the labor market in the Quality Assurance Department at the Jerusalem Pharmaceutical Factory in 2004. In 2005, he worked as a teacher for general science and chemistry in the schools of the Ministry of Education, where most of the work time was in Mazari’ Al-Nubani and Arora Secondary School for Boys. He then joined the Chemistry Committee in the Ramallah Directorate of Education in 2007, where he worked as an assistant chemistry supervisor and as a trainer for teachers. He usually prepared training plans for teachers in parallel with his work as a teacher. He obtained a master’s degree in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program at AQB 2016, which had an impact on his professional performance. This enabled him to participate in several educational conferences at the level of the Ministry of Education and some universities. He also worked as a teacher of language and thinking at Al-Quds university. Currently, he is teaching chemistry and general sciences in the Supervision and Training Department of the Ramallah Directorate of Education.

Khader Hawwash

Khader holds a Bachelor's degree in education/ history from Bethlehem University (1990). He earned his master's degree in teaching methods from the AQB MAT program in 2017. Khader is interested in implementing new teaching strategies in the history discipline thatare supported by with 21st Century skills.  During his study for the Master’s degree, Khader applied two projects: the first one was about how to use flipped classroom strategy in developing critical thinking skills) while the second one focused on the Palestinian right of return between generations which was acomparative study.Khader taught in Terra Sancta Girl's School as well as in Sister of St. Joseph Bethlehem. He taught History and Geography topics to 8th –12th grades during 1990---2008. In addition, he also worked in Talitha Kumi School located in Beit-Jala from 2008 to 2019 and taught the  9th to the 12th grades.

Maram Anton Da’boub

Maram Anton Da’boub attained her Bachelor’s Degree from Bethlehem University, where she studied (SAT) - subject area teacher- in the English language. Upon her graduation in 2013, she directly started her profession as an English teacher to the 7th and 8th grades, at Terra Sancta Girls’ School/ Sisters of Saint Joseph in Bethlehem. To develop her body of knowledge and advance her career in education, she pursued a Master’s Degree in Arts of Teaching at Al-Quds University - Bard College in 2019. Her master has granted her a wide knowledge of theories and practices of multiple teaching techniques, equipped her with modern teaching styles, students’ assessment methods, and skills to enhance students’ four major English language skills. Additionally, a key advancement Maram has nurtured in her education and practical experience is focusing on students as being the center of the teaching-learning process. Furthermore, she has been a member of the ENTEC program “Enhanced Network Teacher Education Capacity” at Al-Quds Bard College, for a year now. She took part in a workshop at Dar Al-Kalima School in Bethlehem on "Enhancing Students' Higher-Order Thinking Skills," as well as a workshop in Jericho regarding the PISA test.Recently, Maram was appointed at Bethlehem University as a part-time instructor.

Ihab AbuDheibeh

Ihab holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Al-Quds

University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis on English language teachingfrom Al-Quds Bard College. He served as an English teacher in private schools and an Englishinstructor at both Al-Quds University and Birzeit University.

Since he holds a deep conviction that the teaching methods by which the English language isdelivered to Palestinian students are time-worn, he has moved to teach at public schoolsaiming at graduating students who have a good command of the English language.Moreover, he recently initiated the English Language Clinic (ELC) in Ramallah, aneducational, social center that is specialized in teaching English as a foreign language andthat aims at making English language learning available for all by accepting nominal fees.

Nadia Jabr

Nadia works as a Math supervisor in the Nablus directorate at the Ministry of Education and HigherEducation. She holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Al Najah National University in 1994. She earned her master’s degree in Math education from AQB MAT in 2014. Nadia was a member of many conferences’ committees including the conference about developing Math education that was held at the Arab American University located in Jenin as well as the second, third, &fourth conferences for developing education held at Al-Najah National University located in Nablus. She also participated in a conference for supervisors under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Ramallah. Nadia also published many papers and participated in analyzing Palestinian students' mistakes and misconceptions in TIMSS Exam in 2011.
