Can Education Survive Attack?

On September 7, 2026, at the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, AQB students and educators came together for “Can Education Survive Attack?”, a dialogue held in recognition of the International Day to Protect Education from Attack. The session brought together Dr. Ibrahim Marazka, Mr. Ahmad Jaffal, and Mr. Osama Risheq, who shared their perspectives on the challenges facing education during humanitarian crises and the importance of safeguarding the right to learn.

The dialogue was held in the presence of Dr. Lina Al Swaiti, Program Manager of the Education Above All (EAA) Scholarship at Al-Quds Bard College. The discussion highlighted the importance of protecting education amid attacks and ongoing challenges, as well as the role of Al-Quds Bard College, its faculty, and supervisors in supporting students and strengthening their resilience to continue learning in times of crisis.

Organized and moderated by AQB/EAA scholars and alumni, Sima Alnamoora, Wasefah Abu Aishah, and Israa Hashash, with Sajeda Manasra and Zaina Al-Khatib documented the event. The dialogue provided an opportunity for students to engage with these important questions while highlighting the work of Education Above All (EAA) and its commitment to protecting access to education for children and communities affected by war, conflict, and crisis.
