Al-Quds Bard College congratulates its biology students: Malak Zawahreh and Sama Darwish, and its Molecular Genetics student, Crine Said on publishing scientific research in peer-reviewed articles. The natural sciences and computing division at AQB College recently published the senior projects research papers for three students in the division, the research papers were published in peer-reviewed research articles, two students (Sama Darwish and Malak Zwahreh) from the biology program and one student (Carine Said) from the molecular genetics program at the College.

Malak Zwahreh’s research paper was published in Scientific Report Journal, it is a peer-reviewed (Q1 article), by Supervisor Dr. Fuad Alrimawi. The Research Paper title: “Anticancer, antioxidant, and antibacterial activity of chemically fingerprinted extract from Cyclamen persicum Mill.”

Sama Darwish’s research paper was published in the Natural Product Communication Journal, It is a peer reviewed (Q3) article, Supervisor: Professor Mahmoud Khalid. The research title is,  “Assessment of the Anticancer, Antimicrobial, and Antioxidant Activities of the Peganum harmala L. Plant (DOI: 10.1177/1934578X241260597/ ID: NPX-23-0574.R4) in Natural Product Communications.”

As for Carine Said, who is a potential Molecular Genetics graduate in the summer 2024, her research paper was published in the Pharmacy & Pharmacology International Journal (MedCrave), It is a peer-reviewed article, Supervisor: Dr. Mutaz Akawi. The title is, “Exploring the potency of wild sage (Salvia officinalis): UPLC-PDA-ESi-MS phytochemical profiling and inhibitory activity against Beta- Hematin.”

These students’ accomplishments come to light as part of the College's serious and long-term strategy to empower students in scientific academic research. AQB’s natural sciences and computing division immerse students in rigorous fun scientific projects that involve active engagement with science faculty who assist students in making their first publications in well-known journals. These practices would enable students to become productive scientists at an early age in their careers. Thus, contributing to the general scientific research community in Palestine and the region.
