Al-Quds Bard Graduates of Molecular Genetics Program are eligible for Medical Laboratory Profession Licensing Exam – Jerusalem

Expired

Al-Quds Bard College announces that its Molecular Genetics graduates are now eligible to sit for the Israeli Ministry of Health’s Medical Laboratory Exam. This eligibility status includes the holders of the Jerusalemite  and 1948’s ID cards. Below we clarify the requirements and procedures necessary to obtain a license to practice the medical laboratory profession in Jerusalem. It provides a structured overview of the required documents and the steps that must be followed. This document has been prepared to facilitate understanding of the process and to offer clear guidance for applicants seeking to complete the licensing procedures, specifically for students of Molecular Genetics at Al-Quds Bard College.

Steps to be eligible to sit for the exam:

  1. Submission of a certificate issued by Al-Quds University, accompanied by the official academic transcript.
  2. Submission of an English-language student status certificate (including date of enrollment and expected graduation date).
  3. Authentication and translation of both the university certificate and the student status document into Hebrew by a certified translator.
  4. Submission of the required documents as specified in the official link, including: the certificate and student status document translated into Hebrew (two copies of each), a copy of the ID card, and three passport-sized photos with a white background. All documents must be placed in a single envelope and sent to the Ministry of Health via postal mail, either by the student directly or through a lawyer
  5. .Approximately one month after submitting the application, a response is sent via email containing a payment link for exam registration.
  6. Hebrew language proficiency requirement: In order to be eligible to take the exam in English, the applicant must have reached Level C in Hebrew. After successfully completing the third level, the student applies for a certification from the language institute or course they attended (Ulpan certificate). Alternatively, the student may take the “Yael” exam, a Hebrew proficiency test similar to TOEFL or IELTS. After obtaining either the Ulpan certificate or the Yael exam result (with a minimum score of 110/150), the document is sent to the Ministry of Health by mail. After approximately one week, it is recommended to call the Ministry to confirm receipt of the documents and to ensure the student is officially registered to take the licensing exam in English instead of Hebrew.
  7. If the applicant wishes to take the exam in Hebrew, no language course or proof of Hebrew proficiency is required.
  8. Practical training period: The applicant may train in any laboratory recognized by the Israeli Ministry of Health for a period of six months. Training may begin upon receiving an official letter from the Ministry confirming that all documents have been approved and that training is permitted, either before or after passing the licensing exam. However, most laboratories prefer that training begins after successfully passing the exam.
