AQB Alumna Mariam Alqam Shines as Palestine’s Representative in the TechWomen 2025 Program

Al-Quds Bard College proudly celebrates the achievement of Ms. Mariam Alqam, Class of 2022, who was selected from over 6,000 applicants worldwide to join the 15th cohort of TechWomen 2025 in San Francisco, California.

TechWomen brings together emerging women leaders in STEM from 22 countries for a five-week professional mentorship in the San Francisco Bay Area, hosted by top global institutions such as Google, Amazon, UC Berkeley, Stanford, Meta, LinkedIn, and more.

During her fellowship, Mariam joined Countable Labs, a biotech company specializing in PCR and digital PCR technologies, and engaged with experts in bioinformatics, pharmacogenomics, and gene therapy at leading research centers including Thermo Fisher Scientific, Mission Bio, Stanford PharmGKB, and the Innovative Genomics Institute at UC Berkeley.

Reflecting on her journey, Mariam shared: “TechWomen taught me the value of networks, mentorship, and curiosity. I return home committed to advancing Palestinian research in genetics, bioinformatics, and women’s leadership in science.”

Mariam now works at the Molecular Genetics Research Laboratory at St. John Eye Hospital and serves as a consultant with the Business and Professional Women Network – Palestine (BPW-Palestine), where she contributes to advancing women’s leadership and economic participation.

AQB alumni network has extended over the globe. The College’s graduates embark on opportunities and leadership roles across different countries and use what they have learned at the college to contribute and serve humanity.
