Rabat- Morocco| Al-Quds Bard College graduates Rana Hadia and Layan Dajani, who majored in Digital Communication and Human Rights & International Law, have won the Al-Quds Al-Sharif Award for Journalistic Excellence in the Television Feature Category in Morocco.
Alongside them, three master’s students from the Digital Media and Communication Program at Al-Quds University and a student from the Higher Institute of Information and Communication in Rabat were awarded first place across the three categories of the Al-Quds Al-Sharif Award for Journalistic Excellence in Development Media, in its third edition, named after the late journalist and founder of the Maghreb Arab Press Agency, Mehdi Bennouna, and organized by the Agency of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif.
In the Written Report Category, the award went to Malak Abu Raye‘a from Al-Quds University for her report titled “Bab Al-Maghariba: A Moroccan Memory Guarding Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.”
In the Radio Report Category, Ikram Reda from Morocco won for her report titled “Women’s Suffering from the Water Crisis in the Gaza Strip.”
In the Television Feature Category, Rana Hadia and Layan Dajani, students of the Media and Communication Program at Al-Quds Bard College, won for their work titled “Occupied Workers.”
It is worth noting that the Al-Quds Al-Sharif Award for Journalistic Excellence is organized by the Agency of Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif in Rabat. The award was launched in 2022 and includes three categories: Television Feature, Radio Report/Podcast, and Written or Online Report. It targets bachelor’s and master’s students from the Institute of Media and Communication in Rabat and the Modern Media Institute at Al-Quds University, with dozens of students competing creatively for these awards through works highlighting Palestinian and Jerusalem-related issues.
