AQB Wins First Place in MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship!

Al-Quds Bard College (AQB) wins First Place in the prestigious MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship for its Civic Engagement Program, in recognition of its continuous efforts to link education to the betterment of the community.

Despite the ongoing war, and the transition to online learning during the 2023-2024 academic year, the college was able to maintain a resilient locally-focused civic engagement program coordinated by way of online networks. This award celebrates the resilience and efforts of AQB’s community to maintain civic engagement projects despite the shift to online learning.

“In a moment of unprecedented difficulty in Palestine, we at AQB are grateful to be honored by the Talloires Network with the MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship. Over the years AQB has strived to encourage the deep, thoughtful, and passionate engagement of its students in Palestinian and Global societies, and this award is an apt opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the people who have played a crucial part in building the AQB Civic Engagement Program over the years: the students, alumni, fellows, faculty, staff, and community partners whose unwavering support has been indispensable in navigating a vast array of challenging circumstances. We are also honored to share this recognition with our founding partners: al-Quds University and Bard College, as well as the Education Above All Qatar Scholarship for their continued dedication, support, and belief in the value of civic engagement.”
