Investigative Journalism in Palestine
Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences (AQB) has hosted today, October 23rd, Mr. Muammar Orabi, the General Director of Wattan Media Network (TV., radio, online, and academy). His talk has led to a very interesting discussion which engaged students majoring and/or minoring in media studies at AQB. Mr. Orabi has addressed the mechanisms of professional journalism, particularly investigative journalism and its contribution in tackling important issues in the Palestinian street. On top of that, Mr. Orabi discussed the challenges that face professional journalism in Palestine and the means to undermine them, precisely to produce a work of quality. In addition, he has emphasized the importance of issuing legal legislation that protects the right to access to information.
Orabi's talk is part of AQB Media Studies Program's guest-lecture series which is organized by Professor Saida Hamad. This semester is going to be packed with similar events that would expose the media students to opportunities and challenges in their fields.
