An Introductory Session about Al-Quds Bard College for Secondary School Students in Bethlehem City
This year, Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Science at Al-Quds University held an information session about the college for high school students in the city of Bethlehem. The event, which was held in cooperation with Ibda’a Cultural Center in Bethlehem, displayed the many educational and recreational activities that had improved previous Al-Quds student’s work and achievements, along with the college’s future plans for the success of its programs.
The meeting was held in the presence of students and their families, the Dean of Academic Outreach, Dr. Rebecca Granato, the Director and Chairman of Ibda’a Cultural Center, Mr. Saleh Abu Laban, and representatives of the College.
In the opening speech, Dr. Rebecca Granato welcomed students and their families, thanking them for their presence. She spoke of the importance of introducing students to the multiple programs that the college has developed in partnership with Bard College in New York. Dr. Granato ended by wishing the students luck and excellence in their high school exams, and expressed her hope to see them again in Al-Quds Bard College.
Mr. Abu Laban expressed his gratitude for the cooperation between Al-Quds Bard College and the Ibda’a Cultural Center, and recommended the college programs while wishing the students a successful future.
In addition, Mr. Sameh Al-Hallaq, the Director of Finance and Administration at Al-Quds Bard College, discussed the types of scholarships offered at AQB. The scholarship system includes scholarships for academic excellence and financial aid for students in need, covering more than 75% of the total number of students enrolled in the college.
The event included speeches by the head of departments at the college, who explained and clarified the college’s majors and minors. Further, a number of college graduates spoke of their experiences at the college, revealing how it helped them find job opportunities by involving them in different internships and travel abroad programs.
Al-Quds Bard College was founded in 2009, in partnership with Bard College in New York. The Al-Quds Bard College educational program is the first of its kind in the Middle East, offering a Bachelor of Arts degree in Science and Liberal Arts and a Master of Arts degree in Education. Graduates from Al-Quds Bard College receive two certificates, one from Al-Quds University and another from Bard College - New York.
