EcoAQB club visits a local school and conducts an environmental activity

EcoAQB club members Mariam Alqam, Bisan Safi, NaghamAyyad, Zain Shweiky, and Christina Anastas visited AbuDis school of girls on May 31, 2022 and conducted a Quiz Time activity for 8th grade students on the theme of Palestinian environment and Climate Change.

EcoAQB for Eco Footprints is an environmental sustainability club that strives to conduct unique eco-friendly activities, informative skill-derivative workshops, and environmental campaigns to raise awareness about climate change issues and environmental concerns in Palestine.

EcoAQB leader Mariam Alqam was awarded the OSUN Human Rights & the Arts Center (CHRA) Grant at Bard College which she used to conduct this activity. “With the format of a Quiz Time, we aimed to bring more awareness to the topic of climate change and the Palestinian environment. Students were able to discover and learn more about climate change regardless of their answers. EcoAQB for Eco Footprints club seeks to build a deeper understanding of environmental issues and concerns in Palestine to best equip rising leaders with the skills needed to make informed and responsible decisions,” says Mariam.

Special thanks to AbuDis School of Girls’ teachers for hosting the EcoAQB club, and for the Civic Engagement Office and Recruitment and Communication Office at AQB for their infinite support for student-led initiatives.
